Sheet 04 · The tables

The floor

Real croupiers, real cards, green felt. The chips are play money: handed out free, the same stack for every guest, and worth nothing outside the room.

Blackjack

The classic card game against the croupier. A good table for first-timers: the croupier walks you through every decision.

Roulette

The wheel, the ball and the long pause before it drops. Place play-money chips on the layout and watch.

Poker

Texas Hold'em, dealt by a croupier. Everyone sits down with the same free stack, so the game is about the cards and the table talk.

House rules on the floor

  1. No stakes. Nobody bets anything of value. Your ticket pays for supper and the show, never for a seat at a table.
  2. Chips are free and equal. Every guest receives the same stack of play-money chips at no charge.
  3. Chips stay chips. They cannot be bought, topped up, sold, traded or exchanged for anything, at any point in the night.
  4. No prizes of monetary value. When the tables close, the chips go back in the rack.
  5. 19+ at every table. Croupiers may ask for photo ID at any time.
  6. Your pace. Sit in, sit out, take a break, watch a hand. Nobody is pushed to keep playing.

Why play money?

In Canada, games with real stakes may only be offered by a province or under a provincial licence. Factory Gaming is a private evening, so its tables are play-money only, and they are not part of the casino gaming floor. That keeps the night about the shuffle, the call and the company.

First time at a table?

Good. Croupiers explain the rules as they deal, there is no pressure to play fast, and a mistake costs nothing. If a game is not for you, the band is just across the hall.
